Fundamentals of Hitting

GORDON EAKIN—has vast experience in both baseball and softball. He played for three years in the Oakland A's organization, and 12 years on the Larry H. Miller Toyota Fast Pitch Softball Team. Larry H. Miller Toyota was ranked in the Top 10 in the world each of those 12 years. Eakin was inducted into the Utah Fast Pitch Hall of Fame in 1998. During his softball playing career, Eakin was a three time member of the United States All-Star team. Eakin won a silver medal as the shortstop for the USA Pan American team in 1994 in Monterey Mexico. Coach Eakin has been honored on the ISC All-World First Team as well as an ASA All-American. Eakin also played in three U.S Olympic sports festivals ('86, '93, '94) winning bronze, silver and gold respectively. Coach Eakin is currently the head softball coach at Brigham Young University, and he is also currently serving as a member of the USA Sofball National Team coaching pool (2005-2008), working with other National Team coaches to help develop the USA National Teams.

HITTING SYSTEM—Fundamentals of Hitting is designed as a philosophy or hitting system to take hitters of all levels from beginning through advanced hitting techniques. Coach Eakins states, "Hitting is simple; the difficulty lies in getting to the simplicity. There are many styles or philosophies of hitting; each has some success. The key to hitting is to find a style, philosophy or system you believe in, completely understand it and then work hard to master it. Many hitters make the mistake of jumping from one style to the next looking for a magical solution. There is no magic, just hard work."

FUNDAMENTALS OF HITTING is disk one in a training series designed to take a hitter from beginning through advanced hitting. While other hitting programs are about 30 minutes long, just brushing over hitting, Top Softball's Fundamentals of Hitting takes a more comprehensive and detailed approach to hitting and provides drills and lesson plans to help individuals and teams understand this system. It is over one hour and fifty minutes long to cover all aspects of detail.
